Dear Bozeman City Commission, I am writing in opposition to the NorthWest Crossing development that is being thrust upon us residents who live in that area. This will radically alter the peaceful open agricultural landscape full of migratory birds that currently exists west of north Cottonwood and further reduce the quality of life of people living there. The area isalready packed with dense overdevelopment, streets clogged with parked cars and traffic that has outpaced the current infrastructure. Approving 1,000 units and 150,000 square feet of commercial space will only put further strain on existing infrastructure, services and resources. The intersections of Flanders Mill and Oak and Ferguson andOak are highly dangerous with vehicles traveling in a north-south direction that crosses 4 lanes of traffic with no light or round about. The City clearly is unable to keep up with basic services like snow plowing, law enforcement, education, and find enough workers to serve the existing community. Please stop rubber stamping developments that bring more people here. This development seems like another bait and switch of homes for the working class onlyto be priced at levels that only wealthy out-of-state people can afford. These high-rise apartment buildings block our views, overwhelm parking, result in dog waste and trash all around them and fundamentally change the character of this place. Not that you seem to care about the needs and wants of existing residents, but just wanted to share my frustration with the direction this once small community is going in. I'll most likely move to a smaller Montana community because of this unjustifiedand unwanted "growth." Your strategy of managing growth is clearly not working to the benefit of people who currently live here, nor does it reflect the wants and wishes of the majority of us who moved here for the complete opposite of what it has become. And this doesn’t even include the ecological impact all this growth is havingon some of the last wild places and refuges for wild animals in the world. Thank you for taking the time to read this and consider my opposition and views. Sincerely, Ken Silvestri
