All stormwater maintenance is the responsibility of the property owner. All
elements of the biofiltration swales and detention basin require periodic
maintenance.
Perform routine maintenance checks on the biofiltration swales, each of the
following items shall be inspected and corrected as needed (unless noted
otherwise):
1. Ensure maintenance access to the swale is not obstructed in any way.
2. Remove any trash or debris that has accumulated within or around the
swale, including the curb cut at the swale inlet.
3. Inspect the riprap at the swale inlet, consolidate or add material if
erosion is present (annually).
4. Remove excess sediment accumulation and maintain healthy vegetation
over the entire swale area (annually).
5. Inspect the swale side slopes and running slope, all areas shall be
stabilized and not contributing to sediment within the swale.
Perform routine maintenance checks on the detention basin, each of the
following items shall be inspected and corrected as needed (unless noted
otherwise):
1. Ensure maintenance access to the detention basin is not obstructed in
any way. Access to the outlet structure shall be maintained north of the
basin (within the 10’ easement on the northern property boundary).
2. Remove any trash or debris that has accumulated within or near the
basin.
3. Inspect the inlet screen, structure orifice, and overflow weir and
identify any potential clogging (annually).
4. Remove excess sediment accumulation within any portion of the outlet
structure (typically every 1 to 4 years).
5. Inspect the riprap on the emergency spillway and outlet pipe daylight
location, consolidate or add material if erosion is present.
6. Inspect the entire basin area, remove any excessive sediment deposition
that is altering the stormwater flow path or reducing overall basin
volume (typically 10 to 20 years).
