All documents in the repository are displayed in the Folder Browser, and therefore it is important to be able to navigate it efficiently. Navigating the Folder Browser Documents in Laserfiche are contained within folders, which may in turn be contained within other folders. The structure of folders is called a folder tree, and it is contained in a Laserfiche repository. Actions performed on entries in the Folder Browser—such as moving, copying, renaming, and/or sending to the recycle bin— can be undone by clicking Undo from the Edit. The recycle bin is similar to the Windows recycle bin. Users can only see what they deleted and can restore their deletions back to the original or a new location. Navigating the Folder Pane You can move between folders by selecting them in the Folder Pane. To see subfolders, you can either double-click the folder or click once on the plus sign to the left of the icon. You can also navigate using the keyboard: use the ENTER key to expand a folder and see its subfolders, and the UP and DOWN keys to move between visible folders. Note: You can also access the last 11 documents viewed by selecting Recent Documents from the File menu. Navigating the Contents Pane When you have selected a folder, the documents and folders within that folder are visible in the Contents Pane. As in the Folder Pane, you can click on documents or folders to open them or you can use the keyboard to navigate. In addition to showing the name of the document or folder, the Contents Pane can display a number of other pieces of information, such as document type, number of pages, and field data. You can reorder the columns and sort documents based on the column information by clicking on the column. For instance, clicking on the Type column will sort by document type. By default, the column will be sorted in ascending order, but clicking it again will change it to sort in descending order. The Contents Pane can display your documents in a variety of ways, including Large Icons, Small Icons, List, Details, and Thumbnail views. Preview Pane The Preview Pane in the Laserfiche Client enables you to preview the pages of a document to see if it’s the one you want to open without actually opening it. You can move between pages, see annotations, zoom, pan, and view the document’s text, thumbnail, and metadata panes. You can also open sticky notes and read their text or view the document’s properties. If you use the Preview Pane in conjunction with Search, search keyword highlights will also be displayed in the preview. The Preview Pane in Web Access enables you to preview document pages along with their properties, thumbnails, and metadata. It is located in the left pane under the Folder Pane and can be collapsed or expanded.
