Huynh - Resolution 5443 Economic Vitality Strategy BOZEMAN SYMPHONY NORMAN HUYNH, MUSIC DIRECTOR Dear City Commissioners, Please see our thoughts on how Arts and Culture can be better positioned in the City of Bozeman's Economic Vitality Strategy. Implement Arts and Culture throughout the strategy, not just in the "The Gallatin Valley Story" o Change STEM to STEAM throughout the document. This includes arts and architecture and is what many education organizations and schools have adopted. Arts, Entertainment, and Rec as the fourth local sector industry cluster • Pg. 4 and pg. 20 of Economics Conditions Assessment: ■ Arts, Entertainment, and Rec is included as an NAICS industry sector in the Summary of Findings as an industry cluster. However, the only local industry sector listed is outdoor industry. We are asking to add the Performing Arts with Outdoor industry in those columns ■ Pg. 14 of Economics Conditions Assessment • Arts, Entertainment, and Rec as an industry sector is not included in Table 5 on page 14 ("Regional Overview" section) as a local sector industry cluster, nor is it included in the EVS or Action Matrix, despite being recognized elsewhere by the NAICS. ■ Pg. 14 of Economic Vitality Strategy • Add Performing Arts to table 5 as a local industry cluster ■ Stage: growing • Estimated Jobs: N/A for now • Estimated Firms: N/A for now ■ Estimated Wages: $30,000-$90,000 ■ Description: Ballet, Symphony, Opera, and Theatre across all sectors (etc) • Page 13 of the EVS "Industry Clusters": The first sentence indicates that industry clusters are specific to traded sector businesses, however the rest of that section discusses industry clusters for both traded sector and local sector industry clusters and the EVS considers both. The first sentence should read "Industry clusters are groups of similar and related traded
