Hi Matt,
I don’t need anything from you. Our recommendation was to have the structures recorded, if they
were over fifty years of age, prior to any disturbance taking place. It is up to the permitting agency
(County I believe) to make the final determination on what steps to do next.

Hi Matt,
Our plan is to reclaim as much of the timber/lumber material as useable and incorporate into other
buildings/structures within the development. Other than the barn, which we intend to repurpose
and incorporate as a possible community center or to house a small business, the other agricultural
buildings are in various stages of disrepair due to neglect. We have already replaced the barn
decking and roof. The residence will be removed as it is full of mold due to several inches of
standing water in the basement.

What is the plan for the existing farmstead structures in the NW corner? Let
me know how I should respond to this email.
Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,
According to my letter in 2019 we were concerned that there were historic properties
located within the proposed project area. Multiple structures, over fifty years of age,
that would potentially be impacted by this subdivision. This is why we recommended a
cultural resource inventory take place.
In the NW portion of this subdivision (Restricted Lots 6, 8, 9, 12) there were structures
from a farmstead that we were concerned about being impacted. There is nothing in
the preliminary plat showing that those structures were being left as is. The MT
Cadastral still shows these buildings being in place.

Damon,
We have been working on the Northwest Crossing Subdivision since 2019
when you sent the attached cultural resource file search. We have now got
pre-plat approval (12/15/20), have built the first phase of the subdivision and
are trying to get Final Plat approval. One of the preliminary plat conditions of
approval was the following:
<image003.jpg>
Our response on how we meet this condition of approval with our Final Plat
application was to provide the first attachment (the response you sent back in
2019). The City of Bozeman then made the following comment to this:
“The City Commission required a more detailed response when they approved the preliminary plat andthis was included in the Findings of Fact under code provision #25. If staff can provide assistance with theState Historic Preservation Office please reach out.”
For your reference I have attached the Final Plat (second attachment). Could
you provide an “more detailed response” --- their words ---- to this subdivision
in this location. Bear in mind the subdivision is built – the roads you see on plat
sheet 4 of 5.
Thank you for your assistance on this matter – let me know if you have any
questions.
Regards,
Matt
