HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 3133 Intent to increase property tax for FY97 COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 3133 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONT ANA, STATING THE CITY'S INTENT TO BUDGET AN INCREASED AMOUNT OF AD VALOREM TAX REVENUE FOR FISCAL YEAR 1996-1997. WHEREAS, the City Manager has prepared and submitted his recommendations for the budget for Fiscal Year 1996-1997; and WHEREAS, the City Commission has prepared for adoption a tentative appropriation ordinance which requires the use of ad valorem tax revenues in excess of the amount received last year; and WHEREAS, Section 15-10-203, Montana Code Annotated, requires that a public hearing be held when the local taxing authority budgets an increased amount of ad valorem tax revenue (property taxes) in excess of the property tax revenue it received the previous fiscal year, exclusive of revenue from ad valorem taxation on properties appearing for the first time on the assessment rolls; and WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman intends to budget an increase in revenue from property taxation by 11.1 percent. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana: Section 1 That the City Commission of the City of Bozeman intends to budget an increased amount of ad valorem tax revenue for Fiscal Year 1996-1997 in excess of the property tax revenue received, exclusive of revenue from ad valorem taxation on properties appearing for the first time on the assessment rolls, for Fiscal Year 1995-1996. Section 2 That a public hearing on the intent to budget an increase in the property tax revenue is hereby set for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 1996, in the Commission Room, City Hall, 411 East Main Street, Bozeman, Montana, at which time testimony in support of and in opposition to this proposed budgeting for an increase in property tax revenue will be heard and considered. All concerned persons are invited to attend a public hearing on budgeting the increased property tax revenue to be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 1996, in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, 411 East Main Street, Bozeman, Montana. A decision on budgeting the increased property tax revenue will be made after considering comments made at this hearing.
