I live in Livingston, am a mother, and have been a guide in Yellowstone Park for nearly 30 years. I am deeply entrenched inenvironmental issues both for work and in my personal life. While I live in Park County, I do the majority of my shopping and appointments in Bozeman. What happens in Bozeman is very important to me both as a Montana citizen and a mother. I am commenting on Bozeman resolutions, as it affects my daily life. We are drowning in plastic. It is affecting every aspect of our lives. We are finding microplastics in our cells and we have certainly overrun the ocean, and landspace with plastic. As a mother, I avoid single use plastic with all of its endocrine disruptors and toxicity. As the owner of an educational guiding company working to ensure the protection and longevity ofthe landscape I love, we do everything we can to avoid single use plastic. Most people I know would avoid plastic when given the chance. This is an opportunity for Bozeman to step up and join the educated, global citizenry in reducing single use plasticoptions. The Montana State House does not represent the will of the people in Bozeman. H.B. 407 infringed on Bozeman's right and responsibility to ensure a clean and healthful environment for its citizens, and Res. 5470 will help remedy this infringement. Res. 5470 is in line with the City of Bozeman's climate and sustainability plans, has beenfavorably recommended by the City Clerk and Manager, and is supported by the community. Therefore, the Commission should vote to approve it. As our community grows, so will plastic pollution. We need to address the source of theproblem – single-use plastics – before it's too late. Please vote yes on Res.5470. Sincerely, Ashea Mills 406-223-5967
