I reached out earlier this month to oppose the application 22279 presented by Providence Development to change the zoning of 38.41 acres at the southeastcorner of South 19th Avenue and West Graf Street from R-1 and R-2 to REMU. Since filing that protest, we have heard from Providence Development that they do not intend to build apartment buildings on this site, although the zoning changewould still seemingly allow that. While we are pleased with that assurance, we still have concerns, namely that the proposed site plan shows a density that we believe is wholly inconsistent andincompatible with the adjacent Alder Creek subdivision. This proposal does not accomplish that specific requirement set out by city planners, and we urge you todeny the requested zoning change. It also appears that the proposal does not include sufficient parkland required by the city, which, given the co-developers previous assurances to build a park on the40-acres, would be overly ironic.
