A quick change to the building code would provide thousands of gallons of water
conservation and reduce energy consumption. * Require all hot water piping to be properly insulated with closed cell foam insulation.
* Require circulating loops on hot water systems to provide proper temperature immediatelyinstead of sending gallons of cold water down the drain waiting for the hot water to reach the
valve. Please consider one or both of these suggestions in the new UDC; neither are terribly
expensive and the payoff to owners will be seen in a short time.
