COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 3149
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, ENCOURAGING THE MONTANA STATE LEGISLATURE TO
INCREASE THE PER-LINE FEE
FOR EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION
SERVICES, WITH THE REVENUE INCREASE TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO CITIES
AND COUNTIES.
WHEREAS, the Montana Legislature enacted SB325 to establish a statewide
emergency telephone system;
and
WHEREAS, under SB325 most cities and counties in Montana developed 9-1-1 plans
to provide for emergency
communications; and
WHEREAS, the cost of equipping, staffing and operating these 9-1-1 systems has
escalated; and
WHEREAS, funds are still needed for a number of counties in the state who do not
have a 9-1-1 system;
and
WHEREAS, the initiation of an administrative procedure to collect and distribute the
9-1-1 funds has been
successful.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman,
Montana, that it supports
the following changes to S8325:
1 . The 25-cent-per-line fee for emergency communication services be
increased to one dollar;
2. All of the revenue increase shall be distributed to cities
and
counties for implementing and operating 9-1-1 dispatch services;
and
3. Revenues retained by the Department of Revenue shall be
not
increased as a result of the increased line charge.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana,
at a regular session
thereof held on the 7th day of October 1996.
