Dear Ms. Hyde:
I live on 4434 White Eagle Circle in Sundance Springs near
the site of the proposed development (Application 22047). I
am not opposed in principle to business development and I'm
generally supportive of the city of Bozeman's plans to have
business developments dispersed near residential development
so as to reduce road traffic and driving.
The developer met with many of us over a year ago and we
understand that he and his colleagues hope to place a
microbrewery and other businesses on the site. What
immediately popped into my mind was the mess that was
created by the development of MAP brewery where inadequate
parking caused spillover onto nearby streets. This should not
be allowed to happen under any circumstances in this proposed
development as it would cause safety hazards for Sundance
Springs, ruin the tranquillity of open space and trails, and is
generally a condition prohibited by the City Commission.
Parking must be contained within the development site and not
be allowed along Sundance Springs streets. If this cannot be
achieved, the application should be rejected.
Bozeman's trail systems and open space are a critical
component of the City that are loved by thousands. This
proposed development will be adjacent to the open space and
trails. If it is going to proceed then the developers need to
relocate the proposed building along the street and not next to
trails and open space. It is my understanding that they are
required to do so by city law and that they are requesting a
departure from city law for the location of the commercial
buildings. The city should turn down this requested departure.
Thank you for considering our comments.
