HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 3165 Authorize submittal of grant application for 9-1-1 ----.--. -----..- .----.. -- ----.--.- COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 3165 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, ENDORSING GALLATIN COUNTY'S APPLICATION FOR A GRANT THROUGH THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION INFRASTRUCTURE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (TIIAP) FOR ACQUISITION OF EQUIPMENT FOR THE JOINT 9-1-1 COMMUNICATIONS CENTER. WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman and Gallatin County recognize the importance of cooperating in law enforcement and emergency services, to ensure the health and safety of the residents in the entire county; and WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman and Gallatin County have created a joint 9-1-1 communications dispatch and records center; and WHEREAS, this joint 9-1-1 communications center has resulted in enhanced services to the residents of Gallatin County, in a more efficient and cost-effective manner; and WHEREAS, the joint 9-1-1 communications center is responsible for dispatch of all emergency services, including police, fire and ambulance; and WHEREAS, the joint 9-1-1 communications center is proposed to be the 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point serving not only the City of Bozeman and Gallatin County, but also the City of Belgrade, Town of Manhattan, City of Three Forks and Town of West Yellowstone; and WHEREAS, the importance of a fully integrated 9-1-1 communications system is recognized, to ensure optimum operation of the center; and WHEREAS, the Gallatin County Commission is applying for grant funding under the Telecommunications and Information Infrastructure Assistance Program (TIIAP); and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Bozeman recognizes this application is a significant opportunity for funding of the 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point, as recommended by the 9-1-1 Task Force. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana, that it endorses the application to the United States Department of Commerce and, as a sub-awardee, pledges to comply with the requirements of the TIIAP Program as well as applicable State laws, regulations and administrative procedures. -....--.. .----.-------.--. --.. .-.. .--. ..--- --.-.
