Dear Transportation Planning Board,
As currently managed I feel that the Bird Scooters have been a negative addition to the streets
(and sidewalks!) of Bozeman. I support the idea of moving people around in ways other thanautomobiles, but the current situation has gotten really bad. Despite being told to not ride
them on the sidewalk, many people do. This is a hazard to pedestrians and also to driverswhen a scooter darts from the sidewalk into the street without any warning or regard of safety.
My main complaint is the rude manner in which many scooter riders leave them where peoplecan trip over them. I have even seen them blocking the "ramp" that folks in wheelchairs use
when crossing the street. There is often no regard for the safety of others as the scooters areleft on their side blocking a sidewalk.
The contractor has credit card information on the renter of the scooter and should impose a feeor even block them from future use. If they are going to operate a business in the city they
need to do it responsibly. If they cannot do that, they should lose their license. Believe me,many citizens of Bozeman will not be sad to see them gone!
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this topic.
