City Commission, City Manager, City Staff, and Transportation Advisory Board:
I am writing to request that the City of Bozeman not hire a contractor to (a) assist with
the City's problems with the Bird Scooter company or to (b) assist with the City's
problems with e-scooters in general because hiring such a contractor would be a
waste of our tax dollars.
It is obvious that the Bird Scooter company's business model is irresponsible and that
their contract should not be renewed beyond CY 2022. Currently, it is equally obvious
that e-scooter use in Bozeman can only be regulated by requiring an e-scooter rental
company to provide their GPS data to the City in real time and then imposing punitivedaily fines on the company and e-scooter users for all acts of illegal driving and illegal
parking.
The City of Bozeman does not need a contractor to tell us the obvious: that e-scooterrental companies should be banned in Bozeman until we, the residents of Bozeman,
decide what is a responsible business model for our city. Daniel Carty
