Dear BTAB,
While I am not opposed to the city trying to find alternative means of transportation for residents and visitors, my
overall impression of the experiment with Bird scooters in Bozeman has not been positive.
We reside south of town at the outer limit of the scooter zone where they simply stop and then become discarded on
the sidewalk or parking strip next to our home. They sit their abandoned for days creating a hazard for those
walking. The company responsible for the scooters does not seem to have the work force to properly manage them.
I would assume that their contract indicates a turn around time for such instances that amounts to less than multiple
days.
Additionally, users, primarily younger are often oblivious to the rules of the road endangering themselves and
others. Not to mention the numerous incident of heard of severe injuries due to accidents since no permit or
experience is required, including broken bones, concussions, knocked out teeth etc
It seems until regulations are better able to be enforced and restrictions applied the scooter have not been adding
value as hoped.
