Bozeman City Commission and City Manager:
I am writing to request that the City of Bozeman cancel the Bird Scooter contract and
not allow the Bird Scooter company to operate in Bozeman beyond the end of CY
2022.
The Bird Scooter company's business model is beyond irresponsible because the
company profits by selling a "product" that not only litters the streets of Bozeman but
also endangers the public safety. For example, many--if not most--Bird Scooter
drivers are driving on sidewalks, driving the wrong way on one-way streets, and
littering the city (including my front yard) with illegally parked scooters. Such behavior
endangers not only the scooter drivers but also endangers car drivers, motorcyclists,
bicyclists, and pedestrians.
The Bird Scooter contract should be canceled, and the Bird Scooter company should
not be allowed to operate in Bozeman beyond the end of CY 2022. If, in the future,another electric scooter company is allowed to operate in Bozeman, then heavy fines
should be levied against the company and the scooter drivers for all acts of illegal
driving and illegal parking.
