Name: Jen Gullett Email: jen.gullett@gmail.comSubject: Save Lyman Creek Message: Dear Bozeman City Commissioners, The City of Bozeman's water usepolicy with "permanent restrictions" has HARDLY come close to what is needed to conserve water and support the projected growth in the area. Restrictions canand should go much further- anyone can still use as much as they want on their assigned days and in fact will likely use more to make up for a perceived loss ofuse on those off days. Developers are still installing water- and chemical-hungry sod at a breakneck pace. There is PLENTY of potential water savings in strongerand very reasonable conservation measures, to the point that harvesting water from these small but vital tributaries would be unnecessary and even pointless.Clearly you are not considering the very real and high risk of wildfire. These waterways serve as refuge for wildlife as fires spread. They serve as a gap in fuel, slowing the spread and giving firefighters time to get ahead of spreading fires. If you considered this with the safety of the human and wildlife inhabitants of theBridgers in mind, you would reverse any action to deplete this creek and look for opportunities to grow and protect these waterways. PLEASE! Can't Bozeman be amodel in thoughtful, conservation-based growth?!?! Have you REALLY considered all options- that is a rhetorical question. It seems that you have set apriority and are taking the easiest and most common route- exploiting landscapes and destroying habitat that support wildlife- one of the very things that lure yourtax base here. Dig deeper, get creative, and god forbid- increase water restrictions on our current sources of water. We will be watching your votes and will, intern, vote accordingly come election day. -Concerned and Disgusted Citizen ---------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe from notifications for this site.
