Hello,Here are concerns for paid parking…. 1) Paid parking does not create parking spots, thus does nothing to resolve the parking shortage.2) Paid parking could potentially push downtown patrons, unwilling to pay for parking, into residentialneighborhoods, further congesting these areas and causing major inconvenience to residents (i.e. Taxpayers).3) Paid parking will increase the need for monitoring these areas, as well as residential areas, for violators and willincrease the city's expenses.***The city cannot manage the parking it already oversees. The parking garage is a dangerous area withskateboarders, drag racers and transients. When I have asked for help with these issues Mike and Brit say they don’thave time to help. How in the world will they have time to oversee a successful paid parking program. 4) It is already hard to find convenient parking downtown. Compounding the issue with paid parking would be amajor deterrent for people wanting to patronize downtown businesses. The economic risk to these businesses isreal.5) Residents of Bozeman are already suffering from a shortage of affordable housing, especially where the lower tomiddle class workforce is concerned. The additional cost of downtown parking for such workers would be anexample of local government adding insult to injury. It would also make hiring and employee retention moredifficult from a downtown business perspective. As the city of Bozeman continues to grow, it is imperative to hold developers responsible, requiring them to providefor adequate parking within their building plans prior to city approval. Although the space to provide adequateparking within these designs may not be seen, directly, as revenue producing use of their property; it most certainlydoes, indirectly, affect the overall economy of the downtown area. It is NOT the responsibility of neighboringbusinesses or residents to shoulder this additional parking burden.
