Supply and Demand in Downtown Bozeman
I am writing (1) to oppose on-street, paid parking in downtown Bozeman and (2) to
oppose implementation of parking benefit zones (PBZs) in residential neighborhoods
north and south of Main Street near downtown Bozeman.
I oppose on-street, paid parking in downtown Bozeman because it will push
downtown parkers into those residential neighborhoods north and south of Main
Street near downtown Bozeman where parking is currently free.
I oppose implementing PBZs in residential neighborhoods north and south of Main
Street near downtown Bozeman because PBZs are nothing but a tax placed on those
of us who are (a) homeowners who live in these residential neighborhoods and (b)
who use free on-street parking.
The Bozeman City Commission has created the current parking problems in
downtown Bozeman because the Commission has not required developers to provide
sufficient parking for the large hotels and large condo-apartment buildings recently
built or being built near downtown. Don't make the homeowners who live in the
residential neighborhoods north and south of downtown Bozeman pay for your
mistakes.
