To the Commission, appropriate staff, and boards,
Isn’t it crazy that there is only a fine of $100.00 for hitting a pedestrian or cyclist within the City of Bozeman?
In the past at PTS meetings the police explained that they don’t worry about tickets and fines because they let the
insurance companies sort things out in crashes.
But pedestrians and cyclists are not insured. They have no-one representing them. And they fee ignored and
belittled that their lives are only worth $100.00. And worse yet, if they are injured and the vehicle owner only has
$25,000 minimum (STATE) liability insurance they end up destitute from medical bills.
Please update the law including State law if needed. We need better deterrents so vehicles do not harass cyclists or
pedestrians.
I would appreciate knowing which staff and Boards you have chosen to share this with.
Sincerely,
Marilee Brown
