AGENDA ITEM TYPE:Citizen Advisory Board/Commission
RECOMMENDATION:no
STRATEGIC PLAN:6.5 Parks, Trails & Open Space: Support the maintenance and expansion of
an interconnected system of parks, trails and open spaces.
BACKGROUND:The end of August marked the culmination of three out of four phases of the
Parks, Recreation and Active Transportation Plan (PRAT Plan). In the final
phase, the consultant team and staff will compile a years worth of public
engagement, findings, strategies and recommendations into a document for
review by the Urban Parks and Forestry Board (UPFB) and the city
commission. We are on track to complete this plan early in the new year
and get work creating a system that that is connected, cared for, resilient
fun and assessible.
At the September 22nd UPFB meeting, staff will lead the discussion
regarding the boards review of the comprehensive Parks, Recreation and
Active Transportation Plan that will occur over the next serval months. Staff
and the board will use the following materials in its review of the plan.
Request for proposals for the Comprehensive Parks, Recreation and Active
Transportation
Including review of adherence and advancement or replacement of relevant
sections of the following city of Bozeman planning documents and plans:
Bozeman Community Plan
Transportation Plan
Climate Plan
Bozeman Strategic Plan
Agency Landscape and Planning Proposal
Public Survey
Results of public engagement
9
In September, staff will also present a draft schedule for UPFB and City
Commission review of the plan including dates that plan drafts will be shared
with the board and public.
Staff will continue to update the plan website with information as it
becomes available including presentations attached to this agenda item that
were shared with stakeholders and staff in August.

roadways limits access
• Lack of aquatic center and
programs
• Current parks not designed
for new uses
• Traffic calming and balance
needed on trails

natural areas, add
education!
• Desire for more connections
between parks to create an
interconnected system
