Hello,
The Assistant City Manager assured NENA Members that a revision to the current
Construction Noise Ordinance was a priority as a part of his presentation at the July 21, 2022NENA Meeting.
He suggested progress toward a revised ordinance would be made by the end of this month
(August, 2022).

We followed up recently and received this response from the Assistant City Manager on
August 30, 2022, "Nothing new to report on the construction noise ordinance; it is scheduledlater this fall."
Our response to the Assistant City Manager on August 20, 2022, "Please let us know what we
can do to help update the Construction Noise Ordinance sooner rather than later. As youknow, we've been waiting for some time, and every night and morning that we wait, we might
not sleep well because there is a cement truck working across the street. Postponing anyrevision to the Construction Noise Ordinance only benefits the developers. Postponing does
not benefit our neighborhood's current residents, a community that may feel more and morealienated."
73% of NENA residents that participated in a Jan. 2022 Survey support and endorse a revised
Construction Noise Ordinance.
The current ordinance states:“operating equipment or performing any construction or repairwork as defined in section 16.06.060 will be authorized between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and
8:00 p.m. from October 1 through March 30 and between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. from April1 through September 30.”
NENA is requesting that the city consider construction noise to be limited to the hours of 7:00
a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekends all year.
What can we do to help the city move towards a revision to the current ConstructionNoiseOrdinance?
