Mayor Cyndy Andrus
City of Bozeman
121 North Rouse
Bozeman, MT 59715
Dear Honorable Mayor Andrus:
My name is Mark Killip and I am the Senior Warden at Bozeman Masonic Lodge #18 in
downtown Bozeman, MT.
Bozeman Masonic Lodge #18 is celebrating our 150th anniversary this October 22nd (Saturday)
by hosting an open house from 10:00 am —6:00 pm. The Lodge will be open to the public for
tours of our historic building. This solid masonry building was Nelson Story, Sr.'s first sizable
project on Main Street, which he constructed in 1890 as part of the city's bid to become state
capital. The Masons purchased the building from Nelson Story III, a member of Lodge #18, in
1947.
1 am writing to see if it would be possible to have you as our guest speaker for this event. Your
speech could be as short as 15 minutes or as long as an hour and can address any topic covering
issues of the day or Bozeman history in general.
Please contact me at mkillip@trglobs.com or by calling my cell which is 954-471-0239 to let us
know whether you are able to speak at this event.
On a side note, George Washington was a Mason as was 13 other U.S. Presidents. Nine of the
founding fathers of our country were Masons and they signed the Declaration of Independence.
So was Charles Lindberg and John Glen. Ty Cobb, Winston Churchill, Roger Kipling, Motzart,
Gene Autry, and Buffalo Bill were all Masons.
In conclusion, the Masons of Lodge 18 would be quite honored to have you as our guest
speaker for our 150th year anniversary.
Respectfylly our
Mark Killip
Senior Warden—Bozeman Masonic Lodge #18
