Thank you so much for running this analysis, Billy. So essentially it sounds like there would not be much of a benefit or
we would not be able to bring this area into current lighting standards compliance by placing a light on the subject
property. (The subject property is near the middle of the study, where our survey shows that existing house on the
south side of Durston.)

Hi Tim,
I went ahead and looked through this. Based on the picture you sent over and the layout, my best guess is these fixtures
are either of the two part numbers:
Cree: BXSP-C-HT-2LG-F-**K-UL-SV
Cree: BXSP2-HO-HT-2LG-165W-**K-UL-SV
I checked with the city's maintenance guy and his record was from the early 2000's so I think these were likely
retrofitted at some time. Because I am not the Cree rep, we don't have any record of when these may have been sold so
I worked off of current photometric information (which is the only info Cree has publically available anyways...). This
should be a pretty good estimate of what the lighting conditions are in the field.The only certain way would be to go out
into the field with a light meter as well as take a bucket truck and take one of the fixtures down and check with the
manufacturer on lumen output and BUG ratings for that generation of that fixture.
Using the current generation of these fixtures and looking at the poles using Google Streetview here are the following
things I noticed:
1. Pole height exceeds recommendations (reference Table A and Table B—page 121 and 124 of the DSSP pdf)

2. Poles do not appear to have breakaway couplings (Figure 14—page 150 DSSP pdf)—this should be verified in the
field
3. Poles are not Hunter Green (Section XII—page 128 DSSP pdf)
4. Fixtures have too high if a B and G of the BUG ratings (Table A and Table B)
5. Fixtures exceed lumen output recommendations (Table B)
6. Fixtures exceed maximum CCT(Table B)—this should be verified in the field
7. The layout exceeds the light trespass requirement of=<0.1FC(Section XILD—page 125)
8. The layout suggests the intersection may not have enough light (Table A) This is applicable to the BXSP but the
BXSP2 would be too much light
9. The layout suggests the roadways may have too much light (Table B)
10. The layout suggests the roadways exceed the uniformity requirement (Table B)
After looking through what options we would have to retrofit those existing fixtures with something from Lumec, we
could remedy some of the points above, namely: 4,6,7,9. We could also resolve 8 by adding a single luminaire to the
intersection on the other side. Resolving the light trespass, CCT, and luminance requirements would be a big step to
improving the quality of lighting in this area. I've shown that in the purposed retrofit file attached.
Retrofitting the existing luminaires would have a material cost of about$400 ea. (cost to distributor—DN—is $320) and
should be pretty easy to install in the field.
Adding the additional pole and luminaire would have an additional material cost of about$4200 (DN is$3360) and
would involve setting the pole and getting power to it.
Finally, I can probably do a layout that works within all of the DSSP requirements, however that would involve changing
the existing pole locations, changing the existing poles, and increasing the number of installed luminaires.
New poles in every location would be less per each than adding one to match the existing because they would be
smaller poles, however there would be more of them. If this is a direction we need to go, I'll do a layout and get you an
estimate on the material cost.
