Hello,
I want to bring to your attention and ask you to adjust the signal light at 19th street and Stucky. The signal light
there was recently changed to accommodate the eastbound extension of Stucky. After the light was changed, it
appears that both directions are on a timer when the intersection was previously controlled by traffic flow. The is the
way it should be. Now, the light will turn red for 19th street and green for eastbound stuck even if there are no
vehicles on Sticky waiting to turn left onto 19th. That obviously isn’t right and needs to be fixed. Also, the light
stays green for Stucky traffic for far too long. To be clear, if there is a car or two waiting on Stucky to turn left onto
southbound 19th street, when the light turns green it should stay green for 10-15 seconds, just along enough to get
the cars through the intersection and then it should turn red for Stucky. Now, whenever the light turns green for
Stucky it stays green for far too long and of course the light is red for 19th street for far too long. I’m sure your
traffic folks will recognize this issue and make the necessary changes to improve traffic flow and take this signal off
a timer and use actual traffic demand to control this light.
Thanks for your time.
