I am discouraged that I have not heard back from the city regarding the safety of their students and the
problem with reckless drivers during school hours. My son doesn't feel safe to ride his bike to school any
longer which makes me very sad. We live within a mile of all three schools so my kids have the opportunity
to bike or walk to all the schools.
Ferguson Avenue is not a safe place for students to cross. The speed is too high, drivers pass on the
shoulder or cross the double yellow lines to pass. I have witnessed road rage incidents which drivers are
aggressively beeping at pedestrians. My son was almost hit two separate times while a car was stopped for
him but the car behind was in a rush and tried to pass the stopped car.
I guess on 8/29 I will purchase crosswalk safety signs to make my presence known to the drivers that
students are crossing here and to please drive carefully.
