Commissioners,
The Canada thistle infestation in our city parks and trails on the west end has never been so bad. This is an
emergency. As good citizens, we have done our part, pulled weeds, and mowed the vacant lot next to our
home. But there are at least 5 acres of thistle in our park that went to seed last week. Every lot under
development in our neighborhood has massive patches of thistle that went to seed, and which is blowing in
the wind right now. We contacted Thom White and he said "we just got extremely overwhelmed this
summer." I want you to know that we are disappointed but hopeful you will give Thom more resources to
fight the spread of noxious weeds and keep our environment healthy. Furthermore, we hope that you will
use your powers to enforce weed control laws on land developers. Mowing a field of weeds that have
already gone to seed is counterproductive. The fields must be mowed in the late spring and again in the
summer. Come to my home and I will take you on a tour of the problem.
