As the President of Legion Baseball Board, I want you all to know how hard we have worked over the past 18 months to make this dream a reality. We have fundraised over $700,000 from individuals and businesses in this community that have shown through their money that they care about this project. It is a really big deal in our world as it puts our kids in a position to be successful in a sport that success is measured as 3 out of 10. The future generations of Legion Baseball players will be thankful for your considerations tonight as this may give them an opportunity for college scholarships. At the very least this facility gives the kids a place to bond with teammates, work towards goals and make that journey into being a man with confidence. As we look across the state into what other Legion programs are doing, it is obvious to see that this is a much needed catchup to the facility upgrades that Billings, Missoula & Kalispell have done to be competitive. All these cities have invested in indoor facilities in the past 5 years to continue the development of their kids as winter arrives. To have a place to go in the winter that allows kids to train is so vital in their success during the season. I strongly urge the Commission to approve this facility for the benefit of not only the kids in the program now, but the kids that will be in it in 10 or 20 years.
