Dear City of Bozeman Staff and Commission- I recently spoke at a city commission meeting about the invasive weed problem on city property. The city property referenced here is the tall native grass area surrounding the soccerfield and playground in Legends II subdivision. The city took control of this park's maintenance two summers ago, and since then the noxious weeds have exploded ingrowth and overall coverage. The main offender is thistle around the soccer field and throughout the natural park area. If the city is not going to spray the weeds to keep them fromencroaching on private property then please arrange a "pull and bag" public service day and ask for volunteer help. Free passes to the pools could be offered to those who participate. If the city intends to spray, then it needs to be done quickly before the rest of the plants go toseed and then annually or more thereafter. I understand there is likely a staff shortage but do not think that exempts the city from their park maintenance duties. The city could ask the HOAs to take care of weed management andreimburse them. I believe the city commission would like to see Bozeman residents be responsible in their weed management, and I am simply requesting that the city lead by example. Thank you,Marcia Kaveney 1496 Boylan Rd. Bozeman
