Hi Commissioners!
Thank you for taking the time to read public comments!
I have done AV for the City Commission for about 3 years now so I am at the weekly meetings before y’all
get here until we’re adjourned. In a word, I put your faces on TV & I’ve loved every minute of it! In my 3
years of sitting in that back room, I’ve never had a huge desire to speak up until now.
Last week, Commissioner Coburn, along with Deputy Mayor Cunningham, Mayor Andrus, and other
commissioners who seemed to agree, alluded to adding “reproductive justice” to the mission of the Equity
& Inclusion Project. I am thoroughly supportive of the initial mission of the Equity & Inclusion committee,
particularly efforts to engage minorities in our community who have often been pushed to the back burner.
However, this additional effort concerns me.
Last Tuesday, Deputy Mayor Cunningham encouraged members of grassroots organizations, people that
are close to the issues, to speak up. As president of MSU Students For Life, I am deeply, personally, &
weekly in touch with Bozeman’s pro-life community. We are concerned about what this measure might
mean (adding “reproductive rights” to the mission of the E&I project), and it isn’t representative of us. We
want to be included in this conversation, as the E&I committee thankfully seeks to consider all perspectives.
I don’t believe this is the time to dive into this issue. We simply ask that if efforts to add “reproductive
justice” to the mission of the E&I project become an action item, you will vote no, seeing as a large part of
Bozeman’s population does not think that abortion does “justice” to women or children.
Thank you, again, for taking the time to read public comments. In my hours of watching, I know it is a
thankless job and no matter how you might vote, please know you are deeply respected by Bozeman’s pro-
life community.
Personally, I think about you all every day & I give thanks for your efforts.
With gratitude,
Freeman Voyles
