Dear members of the Bozeman City Commission.
I'm writing this because public meeting rules prevent me from expressing myself at City Hall.
There are four topics that I want to address in this letter.
1. The city of Bozeman has three permanent distinguishing characteristics that should be represented in
three flags: the USA flag, the state of Montana, and the city of Bozeman. These are the only flags that
should permanently be present in Bozeman, and it would be nice if the Bozeman school board
recommends schools educate students about the city flag.
2. I understand and fully support the proposal to add additional rotating flags that would show Bozemans'
appreciation of people who, with their jobs, dedicated their lives to protect our country and our city. Jobs
are not equal, and it makes perfect sense for the city to show support for the jobs that require taking
personal risks to protect other people's lives and safety.
3. Adding the LGBT flag to rotating flags for military branches, police, and first responders would undermine
the entire purpose of appreciation flags because LGBT is demographic and not an occupation.
If the city is serious about diversity and inclusion and does not want to induce division and discrimination, it
must either don't include flags representing marginalized/stigmatized groups at all or represent all these
groups of people. The list of Bozeman residents who may feel excluded from being respected by the city
contains but is not limited by:
* Victims of fascist totalitarian regimes and victims of genocidal policies of communism, socialism, including
national socialism, segregationism, and Islam.
* Victims of stigmatization/marginalization such as IBD patients, people with autism, Down syndrome,
mental illnesses, HPV, HIV, and, if LGBTQ is included, detransitioners.
* Non-native English speakers and people with speech disorders who are constantly being discriminated
against by the city's public comments rules.
I understand that not all people have their flags, and it's very difficult, if not impossible, to use flags to
represent the entire diversity of Bozeman's community equally. However, this problem could be solved by
adding a calendar of nationally recognizable appreciation and remembrance days.
4. If you are paying attention to the reality of the current state of political and ideological affairs, you must
know that Gay Pride Flag flag designed in 1978 doesn't represent the LGBTQQIP2SA+ anymore. In fact, a
growing number of LGB people have objective reasons to believe that the LGBT movement for equal rights
is being hijacked by woke gender ideology. Many LGB people feel that the times when conversion
therapists pushed them to become straight are coming back with gender ideologists making them either
become trans or "enjoy' sexual relationships with trans people. You can visit LESBIAN & GAY LIBERATION
FRONT (https://www.lglf.org/pamphlets.html#/) or GAYS AGAINST GROOMERS
(https://www.gaysagainstgroomers.com/) to learn more about the gay community's opinion on the issue.
Virtue signaling never helps. Virtue signaling to a small group of spoiled narcissists who think they can take
advantage of politically-correct society does not improve diversity and inclusiveness. The opposite happens.
The city that, until recently, was famous for being one of the friendliest and most welcoming in the nation is
becoming the city of inequality, intolerance, and groomers.
Sincerely,
Anna Shchemelinin
