Dear Planning Board,
Re the ‘Six Range Condominium,' Project at Babcock and Ferguson:
1) The fee allowed to be extracted from the builder in lieu of parkland is appalling at any price. All that we prize
because we live in Bozeman is desecrated by this plan. It’s time the City Planners stopped 'kicking the can down
the road’ and began to realize, as the Native Peoples do, that decisions will effect seven generations.
2) Four story elevations in the middle of mostly one story elevations, completely blocks any views of sunrise or
sunset and surrounding mountains. It closes us in completely, and ultimately affects our values, both emotionally
and financially.
3). High density building with limited open space is truly unhealthy, continues to challenge our water supply, adds
to the volume of wealthy residents but does not consider the housing need of lower income service personnel.
a. Consider that we did not get mail delivery for one day last week because of lack of personnel.
Restaurants can largely not serve at full capacity because of lack of staff. So we wait or leave.
Small businesses are forced to increase pay to as much as $25 per hour, forcing all of us to choke on
inflation to get a tire repair, or purchase any necessities.
4). Everybody talks about traffic and how sometimes it takes two lights to get through. This already exists and will
become a greater problem.
Planning Board, please look to the future and put a halt to selling our lives here in Bozeman cheaply. Your children
and children’s children will pay for it.
In the words of Jane Goodall, “Here we are the most clever species ever to have lived. So how is it we can destroy
the only planet (Bozeman) we have?”
Thanks for listening. (Are you?)
