Dear City Commission via agenda@bozeman.net: Last night at the MON 5/16/2022 Community Development Board meeting, the draft Ordinance 2111was presented and discussed. There was quite a bit of Public Comment in addition to inputs from Boardmembers, discussions, and deliberation. Worthwhile to VIEW. I had emailed in on that Agenda F.3 yesterday before noon as my Public Comment #2 (as my #1 was on the Well Requirements).HOPEFULLY the City Commission has received my emailed input(s) [including an updated 12 slide .pdfwith important visuals I created in November 2021.] MISSING MIDDLE -- illustrated, "pulled apart" tryingto show that left/right need between then ALL the Missing Middle housing options! Thanks to Opticos fortheir visual, and the City of Bozeman for putting it into the 2020 Community Plan adopted November2021... in the Glossary, giving formal definition. Today this focus is on the two (2) DEFINITIONS: a) Missing Middle--above and attachedb) infill -- see below One person, Mark Egge had written in Public Comment and also spoke verbally last night. One thing hesaid was that it was not clear about development or projects being "infill" (drafted) or "greenfield"(* not inthe Ordinance, but knowing this term is key). It also was not clear to me how large a development, old, new, vacant land, or remodel/redeveloment might be able to use the "departures" that are drafted andconcepts being considered related to Affordable Housing (& Housing Affordability.) *Here is a Internet definition I can offer for GREENFIELD as related to DEVELOPMENT, and I've added anote from me in { }: A greenfield project is one that lacks constraints imposed by prior work on the site. Typically, what a greenfield project entails is development on a completely vacant site--{or perhaps maybe mostly entirelyvacant?}. (Architects start completely from scratch.) [A brownfield project is one that carries constraintsrelated to the current state of the site.] I hope sending this email in today 5/17/2022 for the City Commission before NOON will make it availablefor you to look at and review.Including the one-page EXCERPT attachment from the City of Bozeman 2020 Community Plan, page145 of 148 showing The Missing Middle GLOSSARY definition.
