Hello- Reference application 21394 My name is Rachel Cotterell, and along with my husband Tyler, I am an owner of our home at 2136 Buckrake Avenue. Our home is a parcel connected to the proposed development 21394. I am writing to strongly oppose to the Upland Way Site Plan, application 21394. This is my husband and my first home that we have bought, and together we are raising our son. As a stay-at-home mom, I have been able to really observe and get to know our neighborhood over the past 4 years. There are a few things I love about this neighborhood, it is quiet, there are a lot of sidewalks to go on walks, our backyard is blocked off from trees- so we hardly see the neighbors behind us, spring/summer visits from the pheasants that live underneath the 30 year old pine trees, low crime rate, and knowing who are neighbors are. Although we do love our neighborhood, we do face challenges as well. With that said, our park in Baxter Square has not been updated to meet the capacity of people who already live in this neighborhood. I have to walk with my son almost -half a mile- to enjoy a somewhat decent park. Another concern to this area is that parking in our neighborhood is very limited. If you were to drive down our street you would see that majority to all garages are 2 in 1 tandem style. So depending on the house, majority of the neighborhood have 1 or 2 cars parked on the street. Adding this new development would take up more parking on our streets. Speaking of streets--- the amount of cars that drive on Baxter daily is mind blowing. To the point-- we see weekly occurances where people will PASS using the turning lane because they are in such a rush to head East or West on Baxter. When I am walking with my son, majority I have to walk all the way down to Baxter and Davis to use the light and crosswalk to cross safely. There are no crosswalks at either Baxter and Buckrake or Baxter and Thomas Drive. So the amount of cars this development will bring in will make the already dangerous driving occurances worse. I need safety when walking for my son and for myself, this development will not bring that. Another concern I have is the safety for my son. I know who my neighbors are right beside me and behind me, and for the most part the neighbors behind our house are covered by trees so we hardly see them. Bringing in this development will not only take down the trees, but will expose our backyard for all the tenants to see, and that makes me very uncomfortable. People do not need to be peaking in and seeing what is happening in my yard or the backyards of our neighbors. Lastly, I will bring up the increase of people to the area. Like I mentioned earlier, we have a low crime to this area and would very much like to keep it that way. An increase of residents in this area will undoubtedly lead to a rise in crime resulting in a higher volume of calls to already overburdened police and emergency services. I would really appreciate if you took all these concerns into consideration and appreciate your prompt reply addressing them. Rachel Cotterell
