Bozeman Police Commission 2013-Present Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you a good fit for this board. My professional experience includes serving as a Senior Reserve Police Officer for the Irvine Police Department that included Patrol, DUI/Traffic Enforcement, Crash Investigation, Warrant Investigation, Background Investigation, Domestic Violence Investigation, and Special Operations Unit as a Crisis/Hostage Negotiator. I taught an Introductory Administration of Justice Course for the Coastline Regional Occupational Program which presented an overview of the American Criminal Justice System. As a Seasonal U.S. Park Ranger, I carried out a variety of assignments that included law enforcement of federal/state laws and regulations, fire fighting, emergency medical services, visitor information services, search & rescue, and crisis/hostage negotiations. I was recognized as Irvine Reserve Police Officer of the Year in 1983 and 1991. I was recognized as Orange County Reserve Officer of the Year in 1990. In 2015, I was awarded with the President's Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteer Service which included service as a member of the Bozeman Public Schools Crisis Response Team, Community-Coalition On Drug Awareness, Gallatin County DUI Task Force, Gallatin County 9-1-1 Advisory Board, and United States Selective Service System Local Board Member. The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI. I have always made an effort to recognize those populations that are underrepresented, promote justice and fairness when I was a law enforcement officer, and ensure that programs I have been involved were truly inviting to all. I would like to think that my service as a member of the Greater Gallatin Homeless Action Coaliton, Project Homeless Connect Committee, Gallatin County Reentry Task Force, and Veterans Advocate on the Gallatin County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council has expanded my understanding of DEI.
