Dear City Commissioners:
I am writing in support of Resolution 5384 that will establish Bozeman as a City for CEDAW. Thank you fortaking the lead on the important principles of fairness, equality, economic security, and the protection of women andfamilies this resolution represents.
In addition, I encourage you to consider taking steps that strengthen the present draft resolution. In particular, Ibelieve it's important to gather data for an annual analysis on the status of women and girls in our community. These data will build a foundation of fact on which we as a community can work to develop annual action plansbased on the city’s requirements laid out in the Equal Pay Resolution. It seems to me this is a critical step indemonstrating our community’s commitment to the principles set forth in the Convention on the Elimination of allForms of Discrimination Against Women. We believe in these principles. We can do this.
