I am writing to ask that the upcoming Event:STRONG TOWNS by FOUNDER Chuck Marohn on WED April 6, 2022 from 3:30 - 5pm a) Be Recorded for viewing by any interested public people/groups sometime afterwards, [if that is allowed by presenter/organization]b) Allow Virtual attendance (via WebEx or Zoom, etc.), [again, if allowed & technically supportable] Info states the City of Bozeman as one of the sponsors, and that this event will be held at Bozeman City Hall in the Commission Room. Commissioner Jen Madgic during the FYIs at the end of the MON 3/21/2022 Community DevelopmentBoard meeting, supported by Chair Henry Happel, had said that a few people had extended an invitation to the Founder of Strong Towns to speak in Bozeman, so he's coming! Event Flyer is attached regarding this key visit by: Mr. Charles L. Marohn, Jr. (aka "Chuck") / Founderof Strong Towns Finally, I have been aware of Strong Towns information online for a couple years now. In learning I havefound it useful to watch, listen, and stop youtube videos of different presentations, and run back a bitwhere key concepts are presented so that I can really absorb the meaning and applicabilty. I also todayclicked on all the links in the flyer and found those resources quite enlightening and useful. I hope that this Public Comment will help encourage folks to want to go and see and/or later listen andwatch any recordings. Last, I really appreciate this opportunity being brought to Bozeman especially during these times ofgrowth and change. Kindest regards, Mary Wictor 425-283-7253 mobileOwner: 1504 Boylan Rd and other properties in Bozeman & Gallatin County P.S. I do believe there will be a recording made for the April 5, 2022 6pm at MSU / Inspirtion Hall ~ Norm Asbjornson building. However, it is my experience that presenters often do NOT say the same thing, and any chance to askquestions will give the opportunity for other insights to be shared. Thus, having BOTH sessions recordedwith Mr. Charles/Chuck Marohn from Strong Towns is worthwhile. Strong Towns Founder Chuck Marohn coming to Bozeman! Wednesday, April 6 - 3:30- 5:00 pm Bozeman City Hall - Commission Room Charles L. Marohn, Jr. Named by Planetizen as one of the 10 Most Influential Urbanists of all time,Charles “Chuck” Marohn is the founder and president of Strong Towns. He is a professional engineer and a land use planner with decades of experience. Marohn reveals how the standard approach to fighting issues like traffic congestion, addressing speeding and designing intersections, only makes transportation problems worse, at great cost in terms of both safety and resources. The Strong Towns approach to transportation focuses on bottom-up techniques for spending less and getting higher returns, all while improving quality of life for residents of a community. Join us Wednesday, April 6, 3:30-5 pm, Bozeman City Hall, 121 N. Rouse Ave, to listen to Chuck demonstrate how the values of engineers and other transportation professionals are applied to the design process, and how those priorities can differ from the values of the general public. Marohn holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a master’s degree in Urban & Regional Planning, both from the University of Minnesota. He is the author of Strong Towns: A Bottom-Up Revolution to Rebuild American Prosperity, and Confessions of a Recovering Engineer: Transportation for a Strong Town. He hosts the Strong Towns Podcast and has presented Strong Towns concepts in hundreds of communities throughout North America. www.StrongTowns.org 1001 Kingwood Street - Studio 116 - Brainerd, MN 56401
