I recently was told that the city HR dept is woefully behind in processing job applications. It may take 2
weeks for HR to forward applications to the relevant dept. As you are well aware, we have a SEVERE
SHORTAGE of employees in many city depts. With the delay in processing applications, job applicants are
very likely to take another job in the meantime.
Right now, one of the city's MAJOR RECREATION FACILITIES IS CLOSED ON WEEKENDS due to staff
shortages. Can we use the swim center on weekends, NO!! This situation is unconscionable.
The city needs to address these problems (swim center is only one of many), which are only partly due to
covid. Raise the pay, and raise the tax to pay for city services.
