Dear Chris,
I would like to formally thank you for taking the time to chat with me via zoom about your
position at BDH. It was extremely helpful for me in putting together my ethnography and I was
able to use some of your responses and lived experiences to really strengthen the points I was
trying to make. It is also always helpful to know that I am never alone in my goals.
I also would like to thank you, again, for all the work you do for marginalized communities in
the name of community health. The strides you have made and are making are vital to creating a
welcoming and trusting environment for all peoples when receiving healthcare. My ultimate goal
after graduating is to become BDH's very first Diversity,Equity and Inclusions Nurse Educator. I
haven't the foggiest what goes into creating a brand new role within a hospital, but I'm hoping
since you were the first one to hold your specific position that maybe you'll have some pointers
for me when I get to that point.
Regardless, I hope I get to work with you again someday in the name of bringing as much DE&I
education into healthcare as possible.
Regards,
Emily Kastor (they/them)
