I moved to be apart of an up and coming area, and not be pulled down from mistakes of larger metros. I have enjoyed many aspects of what Bozeman and the local area has to offer. I've never been in such a tight knit city with such potential. Although, I'm growing increasingly concerned with the amount of homelessness I am seeing near my home and in the area. Housing is expensive here compared to other areas in Montana, but it is no excuse for allowing people to go homeless and camp on roads/neighborhoods. I have increasingly witnessed the campers, trailers, and tents be put up all over Bozeman. I have seen trash be dumped near streams, roads become dangerously narrow, and I have seen folks whom clearly need assistance, not receiving it. If you are going to charge residents income tax and higher property taxes, which you are benefitting from the increased land & property value, I fully expect you to put that money towards increasing services to get people off the streets, into safe housing, and filling the massive amount of job openings in the area. Do not let this situation continue! The hardworking people of this area deserve better, and there is plenty of land and housing in the area to get these people help. Not for free! I'm not talking about handouts. I'm talking about holding them to the same standard everyone else who gets up and goes to work is held to. I am not allowed to camp where ever I like, nor park my vehicle in the same place for an extended amount of time, and I am not allowed to throw my trash where ever I please. Laws are in place for a reason, and they are meant to hold people accountable to the same standard. I know this may sound cold hearted, but I have seen what bad policy does to towns/cities, which don't take care of it's residents and spend frivolously. Please address this situation before it gets any worse. It doesn't require a study, a committee, nor a vote. Take the action to solve the problem, because it will not fix itself. You have law enforcement for a reason, and if you want a growing vibrant community, it has to function. Functioning means that people are contributing to it, not just sucking off of it. People who are involved, invested, and want to see great things for the area. Thank you for your time.
