I am a property owner at 1404 South Grand Ave. and I would like to make a comment that reflects my
frustration with the city of Bozeman catering more to vehicles and drivers in their growth than focusing on
ways to be progress Bozeman to a pedestrian/bike friendly city that is also growing rapidly. I see this city
becoming more dangerous to pedestrians and bicyclists not because of lack of bike lanes but because there
are few innovative ideas towards benefitting these public. The city is experiencing rapid population growth,
however, there seems to be no ideas on the table that work towards making motorists consider other
modes of transportation. This is especially true with MSU students. As a MSU employee, I see that there are
no incentives given to students, faculty or staff to use non-motorized forms of transportation. This is deeply
concerning as the solution seems to be to build more large parking garages that end up causing issues with
flooding, increased snow banks, congestion, noise and unsafe conditions for pedestrians and bicyclists,. As
MSU campus is in the middle of our city and many students choose to live on the west side of town where
they can find cheaper rent and newly built condos, it seems that a major focus should be on collaborating
with MSU to alleviate the immense amount of motorized traffic caused by commuting MSU students and
determining how we can incentivize them to take alternate forms of transportation. This is especially
important PRIOR to approving any large Kagy Boulevard expansion.
