We appreciate your hard work. thanks, George Thompson Feb 15, 2022 Master Site Plan application #21029 Ives Bldg #2116 Commissioners and Planning Staff: I am in support of the proposed Master Site Plan and Ives project. We had to leave Bozeman in 1980 as there were no jobs for graduate degree chemists, or jobs for motivated, educated individuals. Of course we still had to work 2-3 jobs to make housepayments (nothing has changed , haha). But there was simply not much opportunity for longterm career options. Few residents, with fewer job options pushed wages down. In fact, we couldn’t even sell our house when we relocated for professional jobs and graduate school. Rent barely covered mortgage, taxes, and forget about repairs which we left to tenants. Basically we could not see a future here except for vacations, visiting family. However, with the steady influx of residents came more job opportunities, more intellectual diversity, with equal opportunities for residents to pursue a lifestyle which encompassed bothwork and recreational goals. Certainly personal outcomes are based on the choices individualsmake, but there are now a wider range of work / play options. The recent infill projects are supported by the long-range growth plans for both City andCounty. Yes, downtown area is being enlarged to prevent urban sprawl. As a North East homeowner I share in the discomfort of change. But we all have choices and changes in our lives and simply choose and adapt to opportunities. The Commisioners and Planning staff have supported the continued growth of residential housing and jobs, which has drawn us and many others to Bozeman. Most of the currentresidents would not have moved here if Bozeman remained as it was in late 1970’s. Good growth requires good leadership at the City level. We are fortunate to havevisionaries guiding our future growth and expanding personal opportunities and lifestylechoices. Please support proposed zoning and building infill projects. Thank you, George Thompson, Bozeman Northeast home owner over 40 years.
