Our 7 year old son was hit by a car on S. Bozeman from a vehicle coming from downtown at a high rate of speed. He severely broke his leg and was in a cast from his groin to his toes forover 3 months. You may have seen us pushing him in a wheel chair around the neighborhood. There are no speed limit signs, it's a residential area, and the streets are always crowded with cars parking in front of houses and walking downtown. Not residents. S. Bozeman is narrow, cars lines on both sides makes it both difficult to navigate, especially in the snow, and reduces visibility for kids safety. Lots of kids walk to Longfellow, to Bogert or play. Please consider permit parking so residents are able to park in front of their homes and reducethe number of cars parked on the streets. Please also indicate the speed limit, or signs alerting drivers there are children at play or signs that flash your speed showing that you're speedingand lets make it safer for the kids. Thank you, Marcus ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Jennifer Madgic <jmadgic@bozeman.net>Date: Fri, Feb 4, 2022 at 1:24 PM Subject: FW: marcus.allen.cain@gmail.comTo: marcus.allen.cain@gmail.com <marcus.allen.cain@gmail.com> Hello Marcus, Thanks for reaching out. I totally know what you mean regarding S. Bozeman. I live on the south side and frequently walk (sometimes drive …) down various streets to get downtown. If you haven’t done so already, I suggest sending your email to agenda@bozeman.net so that it is seen by appropriate staff who can respond appropriately. I know there is policy on the books that encourages resident permit parking and staff would be able to provide updated information. Again, thanks for reaching out. Site Visitor Name: Marcus CainSite Visitor Email: marcus.allen.cain@gmail.com Hi, Jennifer, I’m a homeowner on S. Bozeman ave and would like to implore the commission to add paidparking downtown and to permit street parking for residents close to downtown - at least on S.Bozeman Acce. S. Bozeman avenue is narrow, even more so in the winter, and travels straight to Main St.There is no speed limit posted on S. Bozeman ave and vehicles travel very fast. There are many children that walk to Longfellow Elementary school and play in the area, walking or riding to Bogert Park for example. The streets are always lined with vehicles.People park and walk to main street downtown. Kids on the sidewalk can’t see over the cars lining the street. My 7 year old son was hit byspeeding pick up truck in Oct and suffered a broken leg. He wore a cast from his groin to histoes for 3 months. My neighbor is 81 years old and today I helped him get his car unstuck in the snow because hehad to drive down the alley because he couldn’t park in front of his house because of all thecars. Please post speed limits, provide more and paid parking and add permitted parking forresidents in the downtown area.
