To whom it may concern,
My intention here is to share my perspective as a downtown small business owner. I understand this is a
complicated issue and just want to share my perspective. I feel that if paid parking is implemented downtown, it
could adversely affect our ability to employ staff and provide services for local guests. Over the recent years, I’ve
had a lot of guests who say they would love to continue to patronize my business but don’t want to deal with
downtown parking issues. My hope is that we can come to a resolution in which locals have access to downtown,
while those with means to pay for parking and tourists are charged a fee to be downtown. To expand on that, I feel
that all new high end housing developments/hotels must be required to include their own parking facilities. Also,
that paid parking garages continue to be developed and promoted to visitors. I am aware there is no perfect answer
to this dilemma surrounding our growth and the limited access to downtown parking. Thank you for consideration of
my thoughts… I just feel that community should be built around the core of the town and not create roadblocks that
deter locals from that goal.
All the best,
Katie Wing
