Wasia - BDS7 Bus Transfer LocationFrom:Angie and Chris Wasia To:trustees@bsd7.org; Agenda Cc:Angie and Chris Wasia Subject:BDS7 Bus Transfer Location Date:Wednesday, January 19, 2022 12:40:34 PM CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. January 19, 2022 To all concerned parties: I am writing to propose that it may be time to consider relocating the BSD7 bus transfer which currently lines up on the west side of N 11th avenue between Durston and Mendenhall and adjacentto the BHS east entrance. The east side of N 11th avenue is primarily residential and located within the BHS restricted, permit only parking district. If you recall prior to the BHS renovation of 2009, the building housed Chief Joseph Middle Schoolwhich had an ample building set back, parking lot and visitor access following recommended andbest practices school safety design. The 2009 high school renovation pulled the building out to within 75 feet of the sidewalk and covered the Mandeville Creek with its current front door access. BHS address was updated to 205 N 11th avenue yet does not provide accommodation for visitors and drop off. Because the busses areparked in this location both before and after school, many drivers are dropping their kids off inresidential driveways which is not optimal. (The intersection of Villard and N 11th was also used asthe emergency response set up and staging location when it responded to a bomb threat at BHS. Itstill seems curious to me that the neighborhood corner was used for this type of response instead ofthe campus acreage). The bus transfer would be better suited in a like-zoning environment rather than across fromresidential zoning. I imagine there are many good ideas for locations to consider but here are a fewsuggestions as a start: 1. Along Main Street, in front of the south side of BHS and across from commercial zoning. 2. Or off the main street and inside the south parking lot that was recently updated. 3. Another consideration would be along Gallatin High School which may be more centrallylocated within the Bozeman development triangle. Thank you for your time, review and consideration.
