HomeMy WebLinkAboutCitizen Advisory Board Member NormsCitizen Advisory Board Norms of Behavior Norms of Behavior •Productive behaviors and mindsets that support collaborative work Purpose •Build trust among members and staff •Ensure space and time for contributions from all •Provide a framework for expected behavior Decorum •Respectful communication with staff and other board members •Following direction of presiding officer and Rules of Procedure Interactions with Staff •Board members must not direct staff, attempt to pressure or influence workloads, schedules or departmental priorities. •Disagreement with staff’s professional judgement should be directed to the staff liaison or City Manager Attendance at meetings other than board meetings •Board members may not attend staff meetings unless directed by City Manager •Conduct at public meetings should follow Resolution 5323 and the Code of Ethics One Body One Voice •If a board votes on a recommendation to the City Commission, individuals on said board may not comment in opposition to the board recommendation. •Best interest of the group •Undermines work done by the board to reach a recommendation Collaborative Environment •Recognize staff and board members are striving to serve the public to the best of their abilities •Share experience and knowledge
