Members of the Bozeman City Commission;
Neighborhoods have value. They can be allies for the leaders in City government. For example, as we face
new issues in fire safety and drought to ask residents to install practices that protect their homes from
wildfires or to consume less water it needs to have residents feel engaged in these difficult challenges rather
than simply being sanctioned to get compliance.
To maintain that relationship the City needs the respect of its citizens in daily issues like zoning. In this
case before the Commission, going from an existing single family residence to a potentially 12 unit
multifamily development is disruptive. It alienates the residents and lessens the chances of the City tapping
into what could be its natural allies for facing future problems.
I urge the City Commission to find a less disruptive solution to this issue.
Sincerely,
