Dear commissioners,
I’ve now lived in Bozeman over 30 years and I’ve seen a lot of changes. I remember driving out to four corners
when it was a 2 Lane Rd. and I lived in Gallatin Gateway. When the canyon had no billboards or subdivisions or
gentleman clubs. I know change is inevitable and we are growing by leaps and bounds, but some things really are
sacred and that includes the drive to Bridger Canyon. Putting a five story or six story or four-story anything that
creates this downtown feel on the edge of our beautiful canyon is ridiculous. I know Hollarn has contributed a lot to
this town and I don’t agree with it all, but this $11 million land parcel that he bought is his own damn fault. There’s
not a fix for the trains right now, it’ll totally interrupt the view shed, it’ll be nice for a few, but once again the
average working Citizen like myself, like my children will not be able to live in Bozeman next to their parents
because of the continued high dollar building projects that are going on. You can blame the housing shortage on all
kinds of things and I’ve seen the numbers for the demand on housing but this high dollar housing has got to stop.
Let’s put something reasonable that fits in with the landscape and that beloved area. Please, please, please do not
approve this crazy project for Hollaran. There are so many housing units in downtown that are only used a few
weeks out of the year by people who own them, don’t let this be one more place for a second home in Bozeman. I
just have to pray you do the right thing because this project on Story Mill and Bridger drive that is not the right
thing. Laurie McKinney registered nurse Bozeman Montana for 30+ years.
