I am writing with concern about the intersection at Oak Street and Flanders Mill. I commute via bike every
day, all year long to Gallatin High School and this is by far the most dangerous spot of my 2 mile commute
each morning There are drivers attempting to go in 12 directions at this chaotic intersection, not to
mention that there is a bike lane and pedestrian pathway along with sidewalks thrown into the mix. This
intersection should have been built as a roundabout, similar to Oak and South Cottonwood. That
intersection is a beautiful flowing piece of work, safe for bikers, walkers, and vehicles alike.
I have seen many vehicle crashes at Oak & Flanders Mill and many close calls, not to mention my own
experiences at the harrowing intersection. Please consider prioritizing this very busy intersection near a
very busy school and constructing a roundabout. A traffic light would be equally ineffective and prove
nearly as dangerous as it already is.
