I am commenting about the traffic dangers by GHS at the corner of Flanders Mill and Oak Street. I was
involved in a car accident at this intersection June 2021. I was traveling east on Oak and had the right of
way. The other car "t-boned" my car by entering the intersection despite my vehicle having a clear right of
way, as verified by the on-scene officer and accident report. This driver was a GHS student and claimed she
did not see my car. I was very lucky I was not killed or seriously injured. The car is still under repairs, 7
months later. The responding officer stated that there was an accident at least every week at this
intersection and urged me to reach out to the city to share my concerns. What baffles me about this
intersection is that the city had to foresight to develop a roundabout at the next intersection (to the West)
and has stoplights at the intersection to the East, but no reasonable traffic controls here. This is a major
crossing area for pedestrians and vehicles and yet the setup requires drivers to dart across FOUR lanes of
traffic while drivers are waiting to turn as well as entering or exiting Oak. It is incredibly congested, unsafe
and needs a change to the short and long-term traffic controls. Someone will be killed here unless this is
changed. Please put in a roundabout, 4 way stop, stoplight, or morning/afternoon police officer to direct
traffic. The west end of Bozeman is only going to get busier and GHS will be getting more full. This is
dangerous and these accidents are totally preventable through good planning.
